Frequently asked questions infrequently asked

Just who the (explicit) are you?

You know, not a day goes by that I do not ask myself the exact same question. I like to think that I am unequivocally myself, but I guess we all fall into that category.

do you have any traditional training?

Absolutely. Loads of the stuff. Hmm. What? Oh…kitchen training. No, none whatsoever. My curriculum vitae does allow me to take particular liberties—however, stepping foot into a traditional kitchen setting certainly isn’t among those.

why don’t you show your face in your videos?

Ummm…isn’t it obvious? How can I teach you to cook if you’re bewitched by my striking appearance? No, that just seems counterproductive to me. Plus, this isn’t really about me. In my opinion, it’s the food that matters.

How do you come up with your recipes/stories?

I know what I’m supposed to say. Something like—creativity is an engine, a driving force that is tapped into, thereby allowing you to reach a new plateau of being. Confusing, right? It’s by design. Why? Because it sounds better than saying this idea came to me while I was in the loo. In actuality, there’s no secret recipe for creativity. It’s just something that you fail at, until you don’t.

Where was the above photo taken? Did you take it yourself?

I’m so glad that you asked, as I take great pride in this. Yes! I took the photo myself with one of those disposable cameras that were super popular back in the early 2000s. The photo was taken in Kansas—which I’m sure most of you spotted right away. So, yeah. Definitely not a stock photo that happened to pop up when I was creating this page. Don’t believe me??? If you look close. Like, really close. You can see me standing on the island.

why aren’t you taking this more seriously?
